The following is a small sampling of the many varied services our physical therapy department provides to our patients and community.
Infrared Light Treatment is a therapy that uses infrared rays to increase blood circulation, in order to relieve pain, muscle spasm and stiffness. With anodyne therapy, we are able to treat a variety of different conditions, but the most common are:
- Neuropathy by stimulating the production of new red blood cells which increase the release of nitric oxide and helps to decrease the pain and numbness the patient is experiencing.
- Wounds by increasing the circulation in the area which can quicken the healing process.
Decompression is the unloading due to distraction and positioning of the spine. This therapy produces negative pressure within the disc to allow the particular injury to heal naturally. A few conditions that may be treated include cervical and lumbar pain, degenerative disc disease, sciatica and spinal stenosis.
Manual Therapy is a clinical approach utilizing skilled, specific hands-on techniques, including mobilization of the soft tissues. Manual therapy can help to decrease pain, reduce or eliminate soft tissue inflammation and facilitate movement and improve function.
Kinesio® Tex Tape is applied over muscles and fascia to reduce pain and inflammation, relax overused, injured muscles and to support muscles in movement. It is a non-restrictive type of taping which allows for full range of motion. A few condition it helps treat include cervical and lumbar pain, shoulder and knee/foot pain, elbow tendonitis, whiplash and plantar fasciitis.
Vibe Trainer Pro helps to improve the patient's sense of balance and coordination. The receptors in the entire body are stimulated at the same time. This leads to improved coordination of the relating muscles at the same time that balance is being trained.
